On Christmas Eve, my faithful stick blender finally decided enough is enough. While I was making sourdough, orange and clove stuffing for our roast chicken, it started smoking and making a strange sound. Beautiful timing. My dear stick blender has been very kind to me over the years; I used it about five times a day for over 8 years and timing could not have been more impeccable as a new blender/food processor was waiting for me under our Christmas tree (and I had literally just finished the stuffing)!
I was pretty excited to discover my new food processor has more attachments than I know what to do with – so I have decided that one of my 2015 goals will be to use every single attachment and not let them sit on the shelf getting dusty like so many of my other ‘interesting at the time’ appliances.
So today we put the citrus juicer and blender to good use, and made a refreshing and slightly zingy orange and turmeric juice for mummy bear (Finn is not so good with oranges, and doesn’t drink juice). Yum!
Gluten, dairy, nut, egg and refined sugar free (obviously full of fructose though!), raw vegan, paleo.
6 fresh oranges
1 cup pure coconut water
1 stick of fresh turmeric (about thumb size), peeled
A grind of black pepper or pinch
1. Juice oranges (I obviously used my new fancy citrus juicer – but you could do it by hand or use a juicer).
2. Blend juice and remaining ingredients in a blender until smooth.
